Elvado Classic Shaving Brush Soap
With the ending of the sixth week of the six-week shave project featuring Elvado Classic Shaving Brush Soap I realized this. No matter how you prepare Elvado it’s a fantastic shave every time. Whether you go about it the old-fashioned way and just work your lather up and transfer it to your shave bowl. From there you can re-work your lather into the thick and rich lather Elvado is known for. The other way you can prepare the Elvado shave soap for your nightly shave is through blooming. Blooming softens the soap and creates a pre-lather that’s transferred to your shave bowl and re-worked into a robust lather in no time at all.
No matter how you decide to prepare the Elvado shave soap for your nightly shave you wont be disappointed. Blooming your shave soap takes more before and after preparation time compared to the just lather and shave method. In my opinion blooming creates a smoother and creamier lather but will only work with hard bodied soaps. If you have a softer bodied soap then blooming will dissolve more of the product and your once solid but softer bodied shave soap will turn into a clumpy mess. With a softer bodied shave soap you will not need to practice the blooming method. The shave soap is already soft enough to produce a nice pre-shave lather.
One method I’ve practiced with Elvado Classic Shaving brush soap is keeping the lather warm from start to finish. Fill a plastic bowl with hot water and partially rest your ceramic shaving bowl already full of lather down inside of the plastic bowl. The hot water warms up the ceramic shaving bowl and keeps the lather warm for your whole shave. There are a couple of points I would like to make to go along with this method of keeping the Elvado Shave Soap warm for your nightly shave. A ceramic shaving bowl with a handle on the side works best. The handle is stopping point for how deep to submerge your ceramic bowl in the hot water heating up your lather for your nightly shave. If you submerge your shaving bowl to deep in the hot water your lather may become to warm to use possibly burning your dome and face, or, and, it may change the consistency of your lather which will also affect the cushion and slickness changing you entire shave for the night. The size of the plastic bowl you use for hot water will help determine how deep you can submerge your shave bowl to keep your lather warm for the night. The plastic bowl should be slightly bigger than your shave bowl. Once your ceramic shave bowl is partially submerged but not totally submerged in the hot water it only takes a small amount of time to heat the lather up making a perfect bowl of warm lather for a great nightly shave.
Preparing your nightly shave for the night with Elvado shave soap can either be done by working the pre-lather in the original container and transferring it to your shave bowl. The Elvado shave soap can also be prepared solely in the container it came in. The Elvado shave soap can also be bloomed and the lather worked up in the same container as well. My suggestion is to use a ceramic shave bowl every time if you have one available. Elvado Shave Soap is known and loved for the abundance of lather it produces for little product used. Working and containing your lather in the same container that the Elvado Shave Soap comes in only restricts you from unlocking the true potential of Elvado Shave soap. The abundance of lather that also includes a fantastic cushion along with a heightened slickness suffers when not having enough room for the Elvado Shave Soap to breath. Having nice warm lather is also harder to achieve if not using a shave bowl for your nightly shave as well.
