The Mod Cabin Week Six Summary

The Mod Cabin

This is week six and marks the end of the six week shave project with The Mod Cabin shaving products. There is not a lot to report as far as how my skin feels. There has been no change, it still feels soft and smooth with a vibrant glow. The products are still performing in the same great manner and each bowl of lather produced from the three different soaps consisting of ‘Honeysuckle’, ‘Amber Resin’ and ‘Miner’s Mint’ have all been creamy and smooth with the same great consistency and continuity. From the initial application of the soap to the post shave end feel the slickness provided by these soaps has been tremendous and well worth trying for yourself.

I’ve also had the luxury of trying The Mod Cabin pre-shave oil, Face Tonic and aftershave balm in the ‘Honeysuckle’, ‘Glacier’ and ‘Miner’s Mint’ scents. I’ve had nothing but good fortune and great feeling skin with the use of these products. The positive attributes these products bring to my shaving routine and skin care regimen has been tremendous and I plan on using them in the future. It has been an honor and privilege these past six weeks and I can’t wait to see what The Mod Cabin does next.

I would like to give The Mod Cabin a big #Baldnation thank you and I wish them the best of luck! Love your products and you will love the results. Thank you and have a #Baldtastic day!

The Mod Cabin Week Five Summary

The Mod Cabin

Week five of the six week shave project with The Mod Cabin shaving products showed no difference in quality of skin care or quality of shaves. I contribute this to the continuity of the same organic and natural ingredients found in all of The Mod Cabin products. The ‘Honeysuckle’, ‘Amber Resin’ and ‘Miner’s Mint’ shave soap all contain the same natural and organic ingredients such as Olive, Coconut, Castor Bean Oil and pure essential oils. The ‘Glacier’, ‘Honeysuckle’ and ‘Miner’s Mint’ shave oil also all contain the same great natural and organic ingredients such as Meadowfoam Seed Oil, Rice Bran Oil, Avocado and Jojoba Oil with an essential oil blend. Finally the ‘Honeysuckle’, ‘Glacier’ and ‘Miner’s Mint’ after shave tonic contain Aloe Vera, Alcohol free Witch Hazel and also an essential blend of oils. All of these ingredients promote healthy skin through increased moisturization.

These last five weeks I’ve had the luxury of not only using The Mod Cabin shaving products but some other pre and post prep products as well that promotes healthy skin through hydration. These pre and post prep products contain some natural ingredients that help the skin heal and fight different skin diseases and conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, acne, pimples and blackheads. I’m a big supporter of pre and post prep routine products such as an exfoliant to clear all the dead skin away helping to create a smoother shave and room for new skin to grow. I also like to apply pre-shave oil to my skin before the shaving cream or soap. Shave oil helps nourish and moisturize while creating a protective barrier between the razor and your skin. Shave oil also helps your razor glide across the surface of your skin through increased slickness. Shave oil is and will always be a definite staple of my shaving ritual. A good pre prep skin routine will add a lot of success to decreasing the risk of irritation caused by shaving.

The post shave routine is just as important as the pre shave routine is. Think of it this way. With the pre-shave routine you are preparing your skin to accomplish a smooth shave with less irritation, cuts and nicks. A post routine is the skin repair segment of your shaving routine. Running a razor across your skin causes trauma no matter how good your products are. A good pre and post shave routine helps prevent and heal irritation caused by that trauma. There are several choices to make when choosing your post routine products. Do you want to use after shave splash, balm or both, will the after shave products you choose be alcohol free? Will you decide to use moisturizer or just stick with using after shave? There is no wrong answer it’s just a matter of what you decide is the best option for you. I like to use a combination of both after shave splash and balm that may or may not contain alcohol.

When using alcohol based products it’s important to know how sensitive your skin is so you know how much you can use without causing your self a lot of misery. If I’m using products that
contain alcohol I use more moisturizer to decrease the risk of irritation. When deciding to start using pre and post prep shaving
products you also need to know that it will add time to your shaving routine but the benefits out weight the inconvenience. Keeping your skin soft, smooth and well hydrated will lead to less irritation making shaving more enjoyable. At the end of week five out of the 6 week shave project with The Mod Cabin my skin has never felt better. Next week will be week 6 and mark the end of this shave project. So sad it’s coming to an end. Love your products and you will love the results. Thank you and have a #Baldtastic day!

The Mod Cabin Week Four Summary

The Mod Cabin

This was the fourth week of the six week shave project with The Mod Cabin and nothing has changed. My skin still feels soft and smooth after each shave. The Glycerin that’s one of the ingredients found in all of The Mod Cabins shave soap offers a lot of slickness during each shave and a tremendous post shave feel that makes it well worth trying for your self. The Mod Cabin hand crafts all of their products in small batches to ensure quality and consistency. They use all natural ingredients that are also organic and do not contain parabens, phthalates or SLS. What you get is an all natural product that’s ensured to contain ingredients that have a lot of benefits for your skin.

The past weekly summaries focused on the all natural and organic ingredients found in these products so today I want to talk about continuity and reliability. I think this is a question people have when it comes to using multiple products from the same brand. If you are purchasing products in your local retail store from a bigger name brand you might not ask this question. Big name brands make products in large quantities so each individual product performs in the same manner. The problem is, since they are mass producing products they may add a lot of chemicals instead of natural ingredients to keep the cost of manufacturing down to make bigger profits. Take Glycerin for example, It’s a natural by-product made from the soap making process. A name brand may remove the Glycerin and replace it with a chemical that may act the same but could possibly cause irritation after usage. This is just one example and does not apply to all name brands. Some name brands are starting to use more natural ingredients since consumers are becoming more aware of what they are putting on their skin. I am not saying you should boycott all name brand products, just be aware of what you are buying and what’s in the products you use every day.

Smaller artisan brands such as The Mod Cabin use all natural and organic ingredients. They hand craft and produce a higher quality product in small batches ensuring a higher quality that’s good for your skin. They use the same ingredients such as Olive oil, Coconut Oil, Castor Bean Oil and pure essential oils in making their shave soap, also keeping the Glycerin that’s produced during the soap making process providing you with a great shave no matter what soap you are using for the night. Whether it’s the ‘Honeysuckle’, ‘Miners Mint’ or ‘Amber Resin’ The Mod Cabin ensures quality and consistency every time. I will honestly tell you that all three soaps I used these last six weeks produced the same lather with the same texture and creaminess providing a great shave. The Glycerin found in the soap added a lot of slickness and cushion to each shave. The post shave end feel was tremendous and well worth the effort in reviewing all three soaps. There was no irritation and my skin felt soft, smooth and supple after every week.

During week four I also decided to leave the soap I was using for the week and left over lather in my shave bowl overnight. The lather dried back into the bar of soap left in my bowl conserving product. The next night I bloomed the soap for 10-15 minutes creating a soft and creamy lather that had a lot of slickness and a fantastic post shave end feel. I completed this process every night with the same outcome proving the continuity and quality of The Mod Cabin shaving products. Love your products and you will love the results. Thank you and have a #Baldtastic day!

The Mod Cabin Week Three Summary

The Mod Cabin

The third week of The Mod Cabin shave project I had the chance to try the “Amber Resin’ shave soap. I did not have the matching shave oil and face tonic, but I did have the ‘Glacier’ shave oil and ‘Miners Mint’ aftershave tonic to take their place. I have used the ‘Miners Mint’ products before and I really enjoyed using them. The ‘Miners Mint’ shave products have a very Masculine and faint aroma. This was my first time using the ‘Glacier’ shave oil and it performed well compared to the other oils I have used in the past couple weeks of this shave project. Even though these were new products for the week, I noticed that they contain the same natural ingredients as the ‘Honeysuckle’ products do. Olive, Coconut and Castor Bean Oil along with pure essential oils are used in both the ‘Amber Resin’ and ‘Honeysuckle’ shave soap. These natural ingredients promote soft and supple skin, healing dry and cracked skin keeping it hydrated and healthy. The one ingredient found in both the ‘Amber Resin’ and ‘Honeysuckle’ shave soap is Glycerin. Glycerin is a natural by-product when soap is made . Glycerin is also an humectant that attracts moisture to your skin and traps it there increasing moisturization protecting you from the natural elements of your environment.

The ‘Glacier’ shave oil also contains the natural ingredients of Meadowfoam Seed Oil, Rice Bran Oil, Avocado Oil, Jojoba and also an essential oil blend. These are the same ingredients found in the ‘Honeysuckle’ oil. These ingredients also promote healthy skin as well as help the skin fight and heal various skin conditions and diseases such as eczema, psoriasis, pimples and blackheads. These natural ingredients help protect the skin from sunburn and sooth irritation caused by too much sun, bug bites and stings. The ‘Miners Mint’ Face Tonic Toner and Aftershave spray also contains Aloe Vera Juice, alcohol free Witch Hazel and an essential oil blend. These are the same ingredients found in the ‘Honeysuckle’ aftershave tonic, the only difference is the aroma. These ingredients tone and tighten the skin while soothing irritated areas caused by shaving. I did have the matching ‘Glacier’ shave balm to compliment the shave oil. The ‘Glacier’ shave balm is whipped making it very soft right away. Just run your finger over the top of this balm with minor pressure to capture a small amount that goes a long way when massaging it into your skin.

Organic and Fair Trade Shea Butter, Rice Bran Oil and essential oil blend found in the ‘Glacier’ whipped shave balm are the same found in the other balms that I’ve recently tried they really go the distance and feel great on the skin. Both shave soaps, shave oils, face tonics and after shave balms all contain the same great natural ingredients that help keep your skin healthy and smooth. At the end of week three my skin still feels supple and soft. The glycerin found in the shave soap adds a lot of slickness to each shave. The post shave slickness is tremendous and well worth it. I’m looking forward to week four! Love your products and you will love the results. Thank you and have a #Baldtastic day.
